SECOND TIME AROUND (now having the physical book) AND I LOVE IT MORE!!! It was almost 2 years since the first time I came across this series and reading it now (again) it's one of those books that I can't believe I loved it more! This book is funny, it has a smart ass and witty main female MC, it has a hot and extremely dangerous and mysterious male MC and overall the story is amazing. What more could you ask for. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all readers who love paranormal stories and for those who love reapers (like me). Review August 2011 Yey! Another book to add to my favorites shelf. Another series to look forward too. Another couple that I love (Charley and Reyes). And who would have thought that grim reapers can be sexy, hot, smart and totally hilarious!!! I can't help but love charlotte "charley" davidson. She's uber funny my god naming your breast danger and will robinson hahaha!!! And hell, add to it naming both your ovaries as well. I love her craziness, her sharp-witted comments, her attitude.....i just love her!!! And Reyes Alexander Farrow aka the sexy super supernatural son of satan....whew!!! hot hot hot!!! This is definitely a series i'm looking forward to. Reading book 2 now!!!
Felt like I knew the characters; it all rang true.
These stories were bleak - full of ailments, illnesses, physical suffering, violence and emotional difficulty. The prose, however, was beautiful especially when illuminating the landscape and the towns and roads in the world of the narrative. Particularly missing were interesting and emotionally-complex women.
This is the closest I've ever come to reading Science Fiction. I would never have picked it up if it wasn't assigned to me in a class. I loved it though! It was so imaginative and different from the books I usually read. And it was beautiful on a faith level too. It really takes on the problem of Suffering.
I just love this author. Hasnt disappointed yet and will seek out other books to read. I really enjoy historical fiction.
extremely postmodern... not in the sence that it is not written in a linear fashion, but that it manipulates the linear fashion by being simple on the surface, and actually completely complex (if anyone bothers to look).
I read this book because my 11-year old son was so excited about it. It's an imaginative book for kids.
Quite possibly my most favorite mystery ever. I like Lord Peter a lot, and this is my favorite of his cases.
This has a type/brand of magic that I've never run into before and I love it!!
I'd have to say this book was disappointing. It was a little bit tedious to read the narrator speak in a faux Irish manner (he's from Chicago although is wife is Irish). The story plods along. The ending is predictable. Blah. I borrowed this from a friend - I'm glad I didn't buy it.
